Should glasses cover your eyebrows?

Choosing glasses is no small task. With hundreds of styles, designs and colours out there, the choices can be overwhelming. Then on top of that, you still need to find frames that fit your head and compliment your facial features.

One of the most important facial features to consider is your eyebrows. The brows tend to be a focal point and are an essential tool for expressing emotions. Knowing this, you may now be wondering where your glasses should sit in relation to your eyebrows. If you want to know the answer to this thought, keep reading.

Should your glasses cover your eyebrows?

Believe it or not, recent studies have found that our eyebrows are our most important facial features. They help us convey emotions and play a prominent role in facial recognition. So with this in mind, it would seem obvious that, when choosing our eyewear, we should definitely keep our eyebrows in mind.

However, the question still remains: should glasses cover your eyebrows? Well, the short answer to this question is no.

How should glasses fit your eyebrow?

Now that you know the answer to your question, this may seem like a closed and shut case. However, there are some points you should consider when finding a new pair of frames.

When it comes to your eyebrows, you generally want at least half of your brows to show above your frames. This will leave plenty of space for your eyes to fill up the lenses

When it comes to choosing a pair of glasses that fit this facial feature, you’ll ideally want to find a frame that imitates the shape of your eyebrows. This will create a more natural look.

Tips to choosing frames that compliment your eyebrows

Each of us has unique facial features, and our eyebrows are no exception to this. So, when it comes to selecting new frames, you should definitely look for frames that compliment your eyebrows.

For those with thicker eyebrows, consider going for glasses with a thin or even semi-rim as these will complement your more prominent brows. However, if you have a large forehead, make sure that the frames sit below your eyebrows; otherwise, your face may appear off balance. On the other hand, those with thin eyebrows should opt for thicker frames as this will create a balance.

What should you do if your glasses do cover your eyebrows?

If you already have a pair of glasses and have realised that they do cover this prominent facial feature, you have two options: highlight your eyebrows or get a new pair of frames. While getting a new set of glasses may seem like a nice idea, it’s also an expensive one.

So, the option you have left is to highlight your brows. To draw more attention to your eyebrows, you can simply fill them out using an eyebrow pencil and use some contouring to accentuate their shape. You can also make use of brow gel to shape your brows and keep them in place.
