Road Trip with Lucyd Lyte

Who doesn’t love a good road trip? I know that I surely do, especially when I can take my time, get off the highway and see some of the small towns and beautiful countryside that make our country so great. With all of the technology in today’s cars, road trips are greatly enhanced through entertainment, trip management and discovery. Apps like Waze leverage the community of drivers to add context to trips and I find them invaluable for trips across town or across the country. A few years back, I took part in a tech-powered road trip with Belkin along with Michael Fraser, Ted Rubin and Erik Garfinkle called #RonRRoadtrip. It was a great experience in understanding just how much all of the automotive focused innovation is enhancing our drives. Michael wrote a great article about it here:

All of this technology in our cars definitely has a drawback, however; safety! Single car crashes have risen steadily as we become more and more distracted behind the wheel. Of the 2.5 million crashes in the US, over 1.6 million have a cell phone involved. Wow! This isn’t acceptable, we need technology to become less distracting and add to the overall ease of driving. There is much going on with our devices to help with this problem. Apple and Android carplay is becoming ubiquitous in our vehicles making hands free and voice directed applications possible. I use this feature constantly in our family’s cars, even upgrading a 2010 FJ to a carplay enabled radio for our daughter specifically for this safety feature. My car is a 2007 but still has a basic deck that accepts a direct firewire connection for music and phone. I’ve grown used to the simplicity of having all of my content available from a single device rather than needing separate music, phone and GPS functionality.

Wayfinding & Wazing with Bluetooth Sunglasses

Lately I’ve been enjoying a new driving enhancement with my Lucyd Bluetooth Sunglasses, specifically having Waze guidance verbally since my car does not have a video screen. I can still have music or a podcast playing through my car stereo but not have it constantly interrupted by the nice Waze lady. The glasses are also nice for listening to a book while our daughter hijacks the music... I mean Djs`expertly. I like Kodak Black as much as the next person, but sometimes I like a nice Audible break from the steady stream of Rap. The privacy feature is also nice for traveling with a group for the same reasons. This form of enhanced listening is something that I’ve found more and more uses for as I’ve lived life through my Lucyd Lyte lenses. From biking and golf, to simply going for a walk, these wireless bluetooth glasses provide a valuable upgrade to my eyewear that I find indispensable.
